I have a lot to say, but I have to gather my thoughts first. Overall, Iāll say I hadnāt been this immersed in a reading for quite some time, and I was literally on the verge of a nervous breakdown, especially during the last chapters. That said, I recognize thereās a lot of things I feel this book didnāt do great, especially concerning the plot: it has A LOT of holes, and while I still have the second book ahead, I fear there are some things that should have been explained completely by now that I still have a lot of doubts about. Still, I enjoyed this book a great deal and Iām deeply involved in the story and the characters by now, so Iāll be reading the second one soon. I might also delve deeper into my thoughts about the book later, but I canāt promise anything.

For some reason, I'm really not enjoying the nightmare and Elspeth's dynamic. It's odd. I feel like Elspeth doesn't make a point of relying on herself or of growing her strength at all. Instead, she relies on The Nightmare heavily which to me makes her seem weak and helpless. I find that a bit annoying in an FMC. She acts like a scared child and not a grown woman š
