Books where a daughter and her complicated/strained relationship with her parental figure(s) is a large part of the story (whether that be the main plot or a major subplot) • note: the title is a quote from the show Arcane (iykyk)

Love this! Not sure if it's the vibe you're looking for with this list, but I would recommend The Someday Daughter by Ellen O'Clover
I’ll look into it and if it sounds like it fits I’ll def add it! Thanks for the rec <3
I saved this list and then had to unsave it for my own well being lol
LMAO so valid bestie /gen
Yeah no that is so goddamn real
the title ill sob
YUPPP🥲😭 Gotta love a show that's full of complex character relationships and ✨emotional damage✨
It’s a favorite of mine too! Happy a year out from the end of season 2 to us all
Fr lol. The hole that show left is still gaping
I completely agree!!! But that’s what quality fan fiction is for
Haha true!!
Not a singular book, but the Little Thieves trilogy deals heavily with complicated mother/daughter relationships. (The main character has a complicated relationship with not only her biological mother but also her lesbian adoptive moms)
I'll add the first book in the series to the list, thank you for the rec!
The best line in the show 😭😭
Omg Ambelin is on this list! As a reader based in Australia I love this
Highly suggest Daisy Darker. It's presented as a whimsical murder mystery but is actually about the family dynamics surrounding the youngest daughter of three. I still think about the mother/daughter relationship in that one sometimes.
Oooo will look into, thanks for the rec!
