Coming of Rage: Her Fury Aged Like Fine Wine

Coming of age novels end when the girl figures out who she is. Coming of Rage begins years later, when the woman realizes what's been done to her and is finally old enough to know better. Some of these women savor it slowly. Others empty the bottle and make a Molotov cocktail. All of them are done apologizing. Always taking recs - See pinned comment!

Quick note: The vast majority of these books are likely ones I would recommend you check the content warnings/trigger warnings for. Please take care of yourself!!

Recommendations are always welcome! Here is the "criteria" I've been using to curate this list: All women are women. To be clear: Stories about trans women coming into their rage as well as femme rage from nonbinary or genderqueer characters are 100% welcome!!

The character stepping into her rage should NOT be a spoiler! If her rage is part of the big "plot twist" I would rather keep it off this list to avoid spoiling the twist for someone.

Age Range I'm not setting a specific age cut-off, but I've been aiming for 24+. If the story doesn't specify an age range or there are multiple main characters raging - just use your best judgement!

Her rage should be central, not a subplot.

Granted I have not read it in quite some time but I think so! Medea would potentially fit too I think

Does Pagebound have a trigger warning option? I would love that!

It's approved on the roadmap! We don't know when it's rolling out yet though!

Thanks! I admittedly should look at the roadmap more

Maybe Go Gentle by Maria Semple? The rage is there, but quieter.

I bear gift of rage: Woo Woo by Ella Baxter It’s about an artist whose rage manifests in increasingly strange ways, and it was written in rage by the author. A fascinating book borne from a fascinating (and horrifying) inception point.
