Part Of, Not Distinct From

Books dedicated to exploring how nature is all around us no matter how we try to fight it! Whether right outside our door, within our microbiomes, or deeper into our cities, nature will find us. After all, we are a part of it, not distinct from it.

Aw thank you!!

Lovely! I just finished a chapter in Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses by Robin Wall Kimmerer about a woman who made a manmade boulder in her home and it naturally started growing moss from spores that floated in through her open windows. Nature really is everywhere!

5

I really should have just put everything by Kimmerer on this list!

Suzanne Simard goes most places (lists) w Kimmerer, bc of how finding the mother tree is besties w braiding sweetgrass? Im rly excited for her upcoming release :)

Yes, I think I requested an ARC for that one! We'll see if it gets approved haha but it looks neat

Beautiful theme for a list! Looking forward to diving in to more of these books.

Oh now here's the good stuff gif I think Out of the Woods by Julia Corbett would be a perfect addition to this, if you're taking suggestions🐛

omg and what a cute cover!!

2

Right! I haven't read the full thing yet, but I've gone through lots of excerpts for uni that I've quite enjoyed.

More epic non fiction books?? I’m feeling very spoiled right now. Thank you for putting this together!

PB has gotten me so into nf books! I already felt like I didn't have enough time for all the books when it was just fiction, and now there's so many other books I want to read!!

3

One of my goals for this year is to read more nf, and PB is really equipping me to do it!

I love the theme of this list so much. I adore a good nature microhistory / natural history and I've also always loved the kind of concept art that shows nature overtaking old cities and structures, basically rewilding/reclaiming, and I see a few books like that on here so the whole list makes me think of that art immediately.

2

Rewilding is always such a cool concept to see depicted!

LOVE this list. and a perfect title :)

2

Honestly the title came first 😅
