I read The romance of the forest many years ago and I remember I loved it a lot, mostly because of the natural descriptions and the gothics.

no exactly, i had to make sure that i had a spot for all the ones mentioned, especially bc i wanna read these this year
I loved to see Ann Radcliffe, Charlotte Smith and María Edgeworth there, because of course! Radcliffe used imagination like a moral mirror, Smith sensibility with social awareness and Edgeworth did rational social observation! I love this list and I want to read Romney's book.
