books about the beauty and heartbreak of lifelong, ever-evolving female friendships. oh, to have been children together! to have grown up together, or to have grown apart!

How about Lonely Crowds by Stephanie Wambugu? Haven’t read it yet but it sounds amazing and on-theme from what I’ve heard.

perfect!!! tysm!
boy do i have more recs!! • Sea Change by Gina Chung (childhood best friends PLUS mending cousin relationship) • Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth (it mainly focuses on the romance, but there is a lot of internal dialogue about the nature and force of a childhood group of girl friends) • Are You Listening? by Tillie Walden (more of a lesbian mentor roadtrip but i think their relationship has a very similar quality)

yayyy TYSM!! ive added sea change!! i need to look into the other two, im trying to steer clear of anything too romancey and wanna do like friends from childhood but regardless both look so so fun omg!!!
oooo okay yes yes then i agree the other two don't fit quite as well!! but yes sea change supremacy !!
fantastically sweet and earnest list !! love love love
YESSS I love this omg!!!

love love love you!!!!!! tysm!!!!!
I would recommend: the subtweet by vivek shraya the last hope in hopetown by maria tureaud

these books look SO cool!!! i’m focusing mainly on books that follow friends from a young age into adulthood, so i’m not sure if i’ll add them rn, but i’m immediately marking them interested omg ty so so much for the recs sweet raindrop!!

Oh look, a list of books that are all probably going to make me cry! 💜💜💜 I love reading about friendships so muuuuuch

right?!? enjoy enjoy!!!🥹
You should add We Are Okay by Nina LaCour! It has the bonus of sapphic relationships, but I think it fits this list very well
Seeing your other replies and want to clarify that the main characters ARE childhood best friends!! And that's a big focus of the book
