Un-be-leaf-able - planty fiction

Fiction books featuring plants as a major theme. For the purpose of this list, fungi are honorary plants! All fiction genres here (though I am primarily a fantasy reader, so suggestions most welcome!)

Love this list name - also loving all the fungi puns I’ve seen in other list names 😂 who knew mushrooms would inspire so many lists

Haha! I wasn't going to include mushrooms but they get put in with plants so much that I have changed my mind.

1

You need What Moves the Dead by Kingfisher!

2

I almost added it and changed my mind because mushrooms aren't plants... Buuuut I'll do it anyway now haha

There's that herbologist lady in the book and lots of planty things so I think it works!

2

Sounds like it works perfectly!

How did you know I was looking plant books up this morning? 🧐 I'm reading A Botanical Daughter right now!! It's beautiful and FULL of plants, even down to their specific species and genusđŸ™‚â€â†•ïž (my google search history is crazy rn because I need to know what I'm looking at)

edit to add: there is a mushroom that's a big part of the book technically, but many other plants too

2

Ooh that sounds amazing!! I'll definitely add and be sure to read it soon!

I haven't had a chance to read them yet, but it seems like Predatory Natures by Amy Goldsmith, Evil Roots: Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic by Daisy Butcher, and Hazelthorn by C.G. Drews might fit!

Thank you, they all look excellent! I've added them â˜ș
