It's so funny and accurate to my thalassophobia lmao. If you ever want to prolong your terror outside of books, I have a big aquatic horror movie list! 🩈 Terror in the Deeps

2

I haven’t read it yet, but a friend had suggested The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and I feel like it would match these vibes

4

OH you’re so right that’s been on my tbr forever!! adding it rn

2

The idea of a mountain in the sea is already giving me heebie jeevies 😂

1

OF COURSE and i’m actually working on expanding it so stay tuned!!

2

Deeplight by Frances Hardinge: it’s a coming of age book with giant sea monsters and aquatic body horror. It might fit here!

2

Ooooh yesss!! Right up my alley! Thanks for this list!

1

of course, welcome to the spooky watery disciplehood đŸ«Ą

2

I donÂŽt think "The Deep" by Alma Katsu fits this list. For me it was more like a historic drama with a very little supernatural twist, but no horror at all.

it’s definitely quieter horror than the rest but it is technically shelved as horror, which is why i added it! wanted there to be rep of different levels and subgenres of horror here.

2

yay i love this list 🌊 (me who has intense thalassophobia)

1

you’re in good company here đŸ€

1

Can I suggest Flowers for the Sea and Lost Arc Dreaming? These would dot right in.
