“lynchian” is an over-prescribed pill, so i’m not going to assign such a label to any of these books. still, this selection reflects works that are in some way evocative of the work of master artist and filmmaker david lynch.

Loving this list so much!!! Have you considered adding “Chouette” or any other titles by Claire Oshetsky? I’ve just started going through her back log but Lynchian is always my first thought for how to describe her unsettling prose, and frequent focus on dreams and visions!

a note: in curating this list, i’ve tried to feature books that speak to various elements of lynch’s work: the fairy-tale, the dream, the nightmare, the americana, the eroticism, the sense of play, etc. many of the books that immediately come to mind as evocative of lynch are written by white men, so in expanding this list, i’ll mostly be looking to have a more diverse cross-section of authors represented, and to feature some newer releases as i become aware of them.
i maybe recommend her body and other parties: stories by carmen maria machado but i saw u have it on paused so idk how much u would agree!

i love what i’ve read of her body and other parties! i’m hesitant about putting certain short story collections here where i get lynch from a couple of stories but not others, but once i finish this one i’ll see how i feel about it!
that makes sense! i don't know if i would consider the whole collection reminiscent of him, but i would say majority of the stories did 🤔 excited to see any of your future additions to this one!!

went to bed at 3am after making my ‘digital dreams’ list last night, woke up this morning and immediately made this one. it’s a full time job!
I really wanna recommend a new Swedish book called Body Double by Hanna Johansson, which has been translated to English (it's either been released or is about to in the upcoming week, I can't find a clear answer) The marketing calls it Hitchcockian but it gave me some Mulholland Drive vibes. It's a dreamlike sapphic narrative about love and obsession and it's hard to know if something is really happening or if you're being lied to or being led into one or both characters' delusions
