the application of the legal system to psychology has led to internalized and externalized shame and the use of correctional facilities to "treat" individuals with severe mental illness. these books explore this history, the stigma that it has created, and talk about what we can do about it.

this is so big brained
tbh it's really because I have exactly three (3) interests and I only talk about those three topics. XD
I read a book a while back about a psychologist and a neurologist (I am pretty sure) that interviewed death row inmates about their early years as well as did brain scans to determine that an alarming amount of individuals imprisoned especially for murder/on death row had diminished mental capacity as well as brain damage either from severe abuse or accidents. When going over their legal cases the vast majority were never tested for diminished mental capacity properly or at all.
Anyway it made me think of this list and now I need to search my bookshelf to find it!
Ooh if you find the title, definitely let me know and I'll add it!
I love this list idea 🥰
Thank you! I hope people find it helpful if this is a topic they are interested in! ❤️
Quite fitting for you to make a list on this topic 🙂↕️
LOL look, I have like three (3) interests and I will yell about them all day every day!
AS YOU SHOULD
INSANE BY ALISA ROTH MENTION !!!!! omg that book was my childhood favorite, if anyone asked my favorite book, I'd say Insabe by Alisa Roth. I'm so glad you made this list so I can further explore the points she made. I'm so exited.
NGL a lot of these are books on my TBR list, so I'm glad to know that was a good pick because it's been on my list for a while now! I should get to it next time I'm feeling a nonfiction book! And thank you for checking it out!!
