An introduction to the Romantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

" Law and order politics has mass appeal, casting 'us' as lawful citizens and 'them', by contrast, as lawless criminals whose behavior poses an existential threat to the manhood of the nation" Very telling that the author uses 'manhood of the nation' rather than a phrase like 'safety of the nation'. Really highlighted how deeply entangled patriarchy and oppressive political systems are. Patriarchy and fascism are all about control, conformity to 'ideals', and a strict hierarchy that punishes anyone who doesn't live up to the role/image assigned to them.
