Plot is picking up and I am enjoying it more. Still actively dislike the narrator, but enjoying it in spite of him.

I do not like the narrative voice. The tone also feels off. It feels like a wacky uncle telling a rambling story to their 12 year old niece, and trying to impress them and make them laugh. But it also has words like lascivious and heterochromia which feel out of place for a 12 year old. I think it's about to pick up though, and comes with so many high recs I am going to continue.

Whether it's sci-fi or fantasy, you like a big series. You love when a book says 1 of 5/10/50+. Is the reading order of the series hotly debated? Is there a wiki chart to show how the books connect? Even better. Come spend some time in these worlds.

Fantastic quick read (novella, hard cover was 162 pages). A great palate cleanser. Good trans rep. I think it was actually quite soft/deficient in the AI speculation. Not necessarily a bad thing. But it's hard for me to feel like the AI philosophy has much weight when one of the point of view characters is the AI in question. To me, two of the big points about AI philosophy are: 1) how can you tell if anything is "alive" if you can't see their internal thoughts and only see their interactions with you 2) what to do when AI can do everything better than us (humans)? How does humanity react when they aren't needed? How does the AI interact with humanity that is not needed? The book while a great rage revenge arc with interesting characters, doesn't address either of the two big points in AI philosophy, at least for me. But still totally worth a read.
