A book filled with philosophy and teachings but that never feels like a lesson The characters feel real (probably because many are inspired by the author's life), the parallels are subtle, numerous and beautiful, the themes tackled are dark and deep but often brought up very lightly (I loved Nao for that) ("sliding her like a pizza" 😭) And the magical realism matches the Buddhist atmosphere very well ✨
I couldn't truly understand Ruth and never really liked Oliver though 🫠 I also felt like the set up took time - though it is partly justified I sometimes didn't care that much about Ruth's neighbors
