Hey, wondering if anyone else has had something happen that has caused you to entirely reevaluate your ratings on certain reads? For example, the first book my now ex got me to read, I rated it a 5⭐️, but in retrospect... I don't think I actually enjoyed it that much, but got caught up in the association. I think I'd rate it 2.5⭐️, maaaaaybe 3⭐️ now. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt/is dealing with this sorta thing.

Hihi! After seeing reels about PageBound on socials and having a friend recommend it, I decided to pop over! I love seeing people chat about things they love, so I figured it could be fun :) After being a super avid reader as a teen, I ended up taking a years-long hiatus from reading to pursue other hobbies despite my utter love for books. At the top of 2025 and after a lot of procrastinating and failing, I decided to take a leap of faith and dive into Babel by R.F. Kuang, mostly by intrigue of the front cover illustration and the book flap synopsis/blurb. It was difficult, I won't lie, it's a really dense book to try to start out with after a while of not reading at all, but it did kickstart my first reading year in a while and I ended up really liking it! Maybe conquering a book of its length made me feel brave enough to keep going~ For anyone who's dealt with prolonged reading slumps/hiatuses, I'm curious, what book sort of brought you back into reading again? Is there a particular reason why that book did it for you?

I usually read before bed. But I’m getting really excited reading (yay) and end up more wired, instead of relaxed. I’m trying for earlier nights. Any relaxing book recs? Yes, I’m essentially asking for bedtime stories lmao.

hiii everyone. i just joined after a couple years on Goodreads. im so excited to be on a reading platform that is soooo much more user friendly and fun to use! I recently graduated from college with my bachelor's in English. I feel like one of my *quests* was always to read as many classics (including modern classics) as I could. I often intersperse this with newer texts, but I'd definitely love to see a quest channel for classics in the future! I'd love to connect with some of you, and looking forward to seeing this platform grow :)

What is something you find underrated? In anything, books, genres, main/side characters, tropes, mini-tropes, writing style, plot-twist, etc...

Sometimes I feel like I'm not a true reader because it does take me a little while longer to read compared to so many ppl I see on social media or even my friends. I have always been a bit of a slower reader.

Was thinking to myself how I have this ridiculous habit of intentionally speeding through book blurbs trying not to learn too much, leaving a book on my TBR for ages, starting to read it going off the memory of the blurb, and then being completely thrown by what the book is actually about because I realize I didn't actually know. Case in point: started the castle knoll files series today, DEAD CERTAIN the MC was an old male detective. It is about a 25 year old girl and her kooky aunt. This is abundantly clear in the blurb and I have no idea how I misremembered that badly. I spent the first 20 pages going "oh? Oh?? Oh!" So anyway, that got me thinking, do any of y'all have reading quirks like this that are ultimately harmless but kind of weird? A beige flag, if you will?

What language or languages do you read in? Do you read in your native language or another one? If you read in another language then your native one, why? I read in English, but my main language is French. I have read books in French and in German, although not by choice. And the reason being I associate both those languages with school and learning, and when I read I just want to distance myself from all the studying I had to do for books I didn't want to read, so I stuck with English! Also books in English are cheaper at the bookstore 💀

What is one popular book you've read and didn't like, where you didn't get the hype or don't understand how many people can genuinely like it? I'll go first : Le Petit Prince I've never understood how everyone loved the book, as a kid I was forced to read it every year and go to see plays about it and until today I don't understand the hype.

I normally try and stick to just reading 2 books at once (usually an audio and physical) but I started a buddy read and I need to slow down, and I now have a physical, audio, ebook, and the buddy read. I feel like a crazy person. Am I? 😶🌫️
