  • romcom recommendations

i love to read a good romance book, but some of them just feel so cringy to me.. my favourite romance author nowadays is emily henry (!) and i'd like some book recs that give off the same feeling as her books.

  • reading 📚

How did you get into reading? Was it something you've always done? Or did you pick up a book randomly and never looked back? What has changed since then? I started getting into reading around July 2023. I used to hate it because it reminded me of school and assignments. Then I discovered the world of romance books and I've been reading constantly since. It's also made me a quicker and better reader. Although since starting university, I've been correlating everything from my lessons into the books, so it makes my brain work overtime when I read a dark romance book 💀

  • Looking for Monsters! 🐲

I'm a big fantasy romance reader and I'm looking to explore a new direction. I dipped my toe into monster romance and loved it, although it's a whole new world to explore! I would like some recommendations for days I want to read something more adventurous and spicy. Looking for anything from happens to be a sexy monster in a great fantasy plot to the silly cosy reads for cold days. But I know there is a lot of monster books where the consent is dubious and I don't want any grey area in my books on whether the partners are consenting. And ideally one love interest but open to suggestions! Also, very new to the platform so looking to connect with similar readers ❤️

  • Pitch Me A Book:

If you had the power to force people to read one book, which would it be? For me it's The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Yes, it's the same author as Twilight but you'd never guess by reading it. It's infinitely better. Just trust me. If you've ever liked any romance/romantasy/sci-fi, if you like found family, if you like an insanely interesting and unique plot with your romance, you should give this a try. (Also, (bonus?) it's lowkey pro communism.)

  • Southern Gothic Romance

I love southern gothic aesthetic and was wondering if there are any books, preferably romance, with this vibe. Maybe even vampires in the south. Kind of like the movie Beautiful Creatures. The only book ive found like this is The Endless Fall by Emmerson Hoyt. Pls send recs!

  • soft dark romance recs?

idk if anyone has seen the whole "i want the LI in a dark romance to do terrible things FOR the MC not TO her" post that's going around but that's basically what i'm looking for here!! i'm kinda sensitive about how the couple in a romance book treats each other so that's why i've stayed away from dark romance for so long. i've even had to dnf some standard enemies-to-lovers fantasy books because i didn't like how the author approached the 'enemies' bit. does anyone have any dark romance recs where the LI doesn't treat the MC badly? i have some interest in mafia and billionaire romances (which all seem to be some flavor of dark romance) but i'm up for other subgenres as long as the LI doesn't do some stupid sexist stuff or the whole "i'm going to throw you over my shoulder and remove you from this dangerous situation" stuff that's just thinly veiled ways of taking the MC's choice away. basically i want bad people but not bad partners. thank you in advance!!

  • What should I do?

Hii everyone, I'm a darck romance reader, but I haven't read the classics such as "hunting Adeline" or the "Davils night" series. I have read books like the "Game of Gods" and "Heartless beloved". But I'm scared the first books are too dark. Am I right? Should I read them?.

  • Forgetting a book 💕📖

People always ask, if you could read a book for the first time again what would it be? But what they don't ask is which book do you wish you never read? As in, it was so bad you could only hope to forget it ever existed.

    Question for non-American readers

I think this would fit specifically to romance readers but maybe not exclusively 🤔 Most of the times I read romances written by American writers (by Americans I mean US citizens/Canadians, I'm aware they aren't that culturally similar but I feel like they're in this sense). I sometimes feel like I can't empathise with the characters age wise. I think they're getting married/having kids/worrying about job stability/etc too young. I'm usually the same age/older than them and I sometimes can't forget their age and be present in the story. Ultimately, I suppose it's a cultural thing. At least from where I'm from, we aren't in a rush to "grow up", if you get what I mean? Perhaps I haven't explain myself very well but I hope my point is kind of understood hahaha Do any of you have the same 'problem'? Or have any of you notice this? Is this a cultural thing? I'd love to hear what do you think! xx Gala

  • Uni’s done – time to read! 🎉

I just finished my last exam for the semester 🎉 which means: I’m finally done with uni for now and I can finally start reading again! I haven’t picked up a book in about a month and a half, so this is basically just a joy post – no big reason other than I’m super excited to be reading again and wanted to share that 🥹 I’m not sure yet which book I’ll pick up first (or what order I’ll read them in), so I’d love any input if you’ve read one of these or if any of them sound interesting to you! Here’s what’s on my immediate TBR: - The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst - The Woodsmoke Woman's Book of Spells by Rachel Greenlaw - The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown - What We Sacrificed for Magic by Andrea Joé D. Weird - The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa - The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods - Death of an Author by E.C.R. Lorac So happy to be back in my reading era 😌 and very open to suggestions on what to start with!
