  • When Breath Becomes Air
    Thoughts from 22% (page 50)

I’m only 50 pages in and already I’ve been on a crazy emotional rollercoaster. Reading this book as a sophomore in college is both inspiring and terrifying. Life is so short, and this book is really igniting a kinship i feel for all the other people in my life, especially those who are much older than me.

Additionally, this book reminds me SO MUCH of one of my all time favorites: The Darker the Night, the Brighter the Stars, by Paul Broks, which has a very similar premise (neuropsychologist’s wife dies and inspires him to search for the answer about what a soul is, from both a scientific and spiritual perspective) although Brok’s book did come out 2 years after this one.

idk man, I might have to delve back into some existentialist literature after this one. I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on a copy of this book!!!

Quite honestly - I started reading this a while back and randomly stopped. I’ve decided to restart because I enjoyed the movie - let’s see which is better!

  • Poly book recs

Hi hellooooooo does anyone have any recommendations for poly books that fit the below “rules:”

    • m/m/f or f/f/f or m/m/m
    • isn’t just smut, has something of a plot
    • the relationships are balanced in that they all feel for each other, no one is left out.

It can be a reverse harem or a harem as long as there’s queer relationships within. Basically, think of that line “I want my boyfriends to be boyfriends” kind of vibe - warrior princess assassin is a perfect example of this, but bride of brutal hearts (which I’m currently reading) feels a little too focused on the m/f for my own personal tastes so far (did anyone else see how long that book is????????? I’ 500 pages in of 1400 someone send help)

  • i’m desperate. tell me the most unhinged way you’ve motivated yourself to read more.

i’ve been going through my current read at a snail’s pace and it’s driving me crazy. i really want to read more, and i’m interested in the story, but i just can’t seem to actually get myself to read.

have you guys figured out what motivates you to read more? what worked the best in getting you out of a slump?

please help a girl out, i am desperate 😫

  • thoughts on audiobooks? 🎧

i really want to try audiobooks, but i’m not sure i’ll enjoy them. i get distracted pretty easily and i feel like i might end up missing parts of it, or won’t pay attention and have to rewind over and over again. (i’ve learned that i am 100% NOT an auditory learner 😭)

i think i should still give it a chance though, and maybe alternate between it and my physical copy when i’ve hit a wall.
