I'm glad i continued with the series as the writing, character development, and plot progression is much better than book 2. I think this is going to go in a similar way to book 1 where the first half is a lot more smut and the second half has more emotional development, but it makes much more sense with the relationship dynamic between these two.

I keep comparing this book to Death in the Downline by Maria Abrams, which looked at similar concepts but was a very fast paced thriller. I think that's what I expected from this book and while it might be a thriller (not entirely sure what genre it falls within) its pacing is pretty slow and I feel like the storytelling isn't the greatest. Not sure if it'll improve soon, but also don't know at what point I should dislike it enough to DNF?

First Emily Henry book that I'm reading instead of audiobooking and this experience is somehow so much better, despite the audiobooks being narrated rly nicely. She genuinely writes banter so well and all her female characters feel distinct (unlike the love interests 😅 Alex and Miles from Funny Story and the guy from Beach Read seem like versions of the same Type)
