I refuse to hear nothing about this bus. Nope. I can't go on. I don't think I can make it đđ

Reading this book felt like jumping into a sequence of watercolor paintings, frame by frame. It evoked the otherworldliness & soft whimsy present in a lot of translated Japanese fiction (and Hayao Miyazaki films). A true adventure story with a mystery at its center, the stakes felt high and the characters were lovable (with believable flaws). The romance is definitely secondary to an exploration of free will, family duty, love and sacrifice (which I preferred).
As a big fan of Isabelle Allende and her use of magical realism (full of Latin American oral traditions & folklore), I loved that this book showcased East Asian mythology and symbolism. It felt very unique in that the magical realism was intertwined with true fantasy and full world-building rather than most of the East Asian magical realism I've read, which is set in the real world.

i donât know if this is a new trend or what but Iâve been seeing new books lately that have literal tropes as their titles. For example, a book called Friends to Lovers, another called Enemies to Lovers, and yet another called Second Chance Romance (these are all real titles).
I find it kind of lazy and reductive but Iâm curious what others think about it

I loving my first experience with soft science fiction. I think the pacing is perfect, and the mysterious plot has a hold on me. I found this gem of an author through her YouTube channel, and I'm so glad I tried her out. I consider Mel Torrefranca to be a teenage prodigy, and this book proves it!

I finished the first chapter of my very first fantasy novel! My imagination was ignited, and I saw the scenes. Alex ended this chapter with a nice hook. Now, I've gotta keep reading so I can discover the meaning of it. I didn't read the blurb or reviews. I just jumped in. I think not knowing what this is about will enhance the experience for me!

I'm enjoying the underdog premise. I like how the people who were chatting with Avery suddenly turned on her. That's quite reflective of real life, and it shows just how fickle people can be. I also appreciate how short each chapter is; it makes me feel like a fast reader đ€ đ«
