How I feel when I see really in depth critiques of books I enjoyed highlighting glaring inconsistencies and unbelievable details, realizing that my brain regularly either forgets or blocks every last one of those details when Iām having a good time š

Personally I read just about every review i come across here. So I was curious if anyone does the same? I also read reviews for books not in languages I speak (assuming the review is in English)

I've obviously read books that have impacted me emotionally, but never has one actually altered how I go about my day to day life until I read Tender Is The Flesh. I genuinely haven't eaten meat since, and that's deeply upsetting for me as I used to love a good steak! Considering it's fiction, it really caught me off guard.
The community recs don't really work for me as I don't really like horror and wouldn't want to read anything of a similar genre but I liked the dystopian vibes and I loved that it packed such a punch. I wondered if anyone had any good recs for equally impacting reads that don't involve cannibalism!

Hi all! I have four books left on my kindle to read(started with 5). Iām a major mood reader and sometimes need peopleās opinions on what I should read next. Should I read: -We Free The Stars(fantasy) -Fevered Star(fantasy) -Broken Country(no idea the genre) -The Women(historical fiction) Iām usually a fantasy girl but am trying to branch out in terms of what I read. Also, I just finished a 5 star read so am skeptical of other books and worried that nothing will live up to the last 5 star book I read. If yall have any thoughts, please let me know. Could really use some advice or opinions from fellow bookworms.
Edit: Written in the Stars didnt download properly so I had to get a new book because itās not available at my library anymore right now(I did put it on hold again though)

So there's obviously a TON of movie/show adaptations for all kinds of books. I'm very curious to know what everyone's opinions and favorites are. I have specific questions as to why an adaptation is a favoirte of yours.
Is it your favorite because it's a favorite book?
Is it your favorite because the adaptation did the book justice?
Is it your favorite because it expanded on the book?
Is there an adaptation that's not out yet that you're hoping will be a favorite?
And bonus question:
Is there a book that has NOT gotten an adaptation that you really think deserves one - OR - is there a book that DID get an adaptation that you don't think deserved it?
I personally love "the little prince" and "annihilation" adaptations. Annihilation kind of flopped when it came out, but the movie is nothing like the book and thats why I like it. The director took the concept of the mutated area and made his own story with it and the visuals are beautiful.

Thereās a recent thread about age gap books And I was just scrolling through it and someone mentioned a book titled āYour Dad Will Doā and Iām not gonna lie I almost laughed so hard I cried. Itās just such a hilarious title for a book to me. I donāt care for regular romances and I donāt care for age gaps but I may actually read this book simply for the title.
What hilariously titled books have you stumbled upon?

With everything going on in the world, is there a quote that comes back to you? For me its this one from my favorite book. It might be time for a reread.
āThe really unforgivable acts are committed by calm men in beautiful green silk rooms, who deal death wholesale, by the shipload, without lust, or anger, or desire, or any redeeming emotion to excuse them but cold fear of some pretended future. But the crimes they hope to prevent in that future are imaginary. The ones they commit in the present ā they are real.ā ā Lois McMaster Bujold, Shards of Honour

So, I was thinking of starting Daughter of the Moon Goddess after seeing someone market it as a book to read if you loved Mulan as a kid. So that struck me with a question for you guys, what book/book character you read recently reminds you of a movie or character you loved from your childhood?
