"When you're good at everything, that becomes the standard, and then I'm not allowed to just do something because I like it." I love this entire paragraph and I feel like I put so much pressure on myself, similar to this character. Even if I'm not always the best at everything, I'm always trying to be. I look forward to reading his journey with this struggle because it really resonates with me.

Are the newer books in the series (Ballad and Sunrise) good or cash grabs? I haven't looked into them yet, so this is my first toe dipped in the subject.

I read this book thinking it was a queer classic, but did not enjoy it at all. The first half was exceedingly dull, basically nothing but the characters saying they would do something, and then changing their mind that they no longer wanted to do it. I wanted to read this before watching the movie, which I hope is more interesting than this was!

I completed my reading goal of 31 books and decided to put it at 40 books for now. I was wondering how's everyone managing their goal, do you set a goal high at the start of the year or do you set a goal you now you can achieve and then update it I personally prefer to update it as i go bc i feel less pressured

Okay, so I avoided non-fiction because it just... didn't seem interesting to me at all. But this summer readalong "I'm Glad My Mom Died" piqued my interest a lot and I actually really enjoyed the read. I tried looking up non-fiction books similar but it's an overwhelming list. I was curious if anyone had any other recommendations? I'd ideally like to focus on autobiographies/memoirs, but I'm open to anything. I'd love to expand what I read a bit more!

I just finished reading a fabulous book and now I'm staring at all the books I own and wondering what to read next, if not buy a new one (rip my wallet) and read that. How do y'all manage your TBR paralysis and choose what to read next? I know that if I don't start now, I'll have a hard time starting up again after reading something so good, so I need to pick quickly lol

I feel like I already have this plot figured out, I’m hoping there’s a good plot twist though because I still have 174 pages to go

I am actually struggling with this one... I just can't seem to get into it. Should I push through it?

I'm tempted to reread this, haven't read it since I was in my teens! Any recs on whether to read before or after reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes?

How long do you give a book before DNFing? I usually give it 100 pages, and only go further if it has enough potential that it *might* get better. If the book is especially poorly written or I really don’t like it, it might be a lot less 😂

do you read Book 2 right away (if you liked Book 1) or read something new as a palate cleanser from the series?
