6⭐ ! All of the stars ! "Nahuseresh tells me I am not king. We'll see if he really prefers the Thief." Truly a masterpiece of a series. It's so different from anything else I've ever read. The writing is, to me, as strong of a component than the characters or the plot. It confuses you, on purpose! Sometimes it's a 3rd person pov following a character closely, sometimes it's omniscient, sometimes you think it is, until an "I" pops up and you're like?? Who's thinking ?? Who are we ?? Any other book, I'd say it's bad writing or editing; Megan's using it masterfully to give us the exact information she wants us to have and nothing else. The scheming, the foreshadowing.. small or big plot points are solved and laid to rest, only to come back in later books, like small parts of a much bigger whole. What a delight to read. It's a kind of books much more subtle than nowadays releases, both in terms of plot, of romance, of characters, in a way that resembles most closely big epics, but without the emotional distance than normally comes with that kind of writing. I felt for the characters, Gen is one of my favourite characters of all times now. The depth, the layers Actually, beside the official "a thief ennacting the will of the gods, war, betrayal, heists" aspect, this series is Gen loving to needle people who hate him and ending up with the very unfortunate result of those people all coming to love him devotedly and now suffocating him with their concern for his well-being. And that, too, is a delight. Actually let me use that word one more time: the chasing scene? Most delightful thing I've read in a long time. Will recommend until the day I die. "Your Majesty." Hilarion was close to begging. "Everyone is waiting." "Tell them I died." "Your Majesty?" "Died, Hilarion. In the night. Peacefully." "Why would I do that?" "Because then you could all go away and leave me alone."

"So help me god," I said. "I will abandon you right here and right now if you choose to take up the kazoo." As someone who owns a kazoo - I would have been abandoned right there and then 😹

  • Ice breaker - what's the story behind your username and what's a book that represents you?

Okay so I really want to get to know y'all! So I thought why not ask you guys a few questions! My username is bluehairedboy. Which is ironic because I don't have blue hair nor am I a boy. I'm genderqueer. If you wanted to visualise my gender, draw a straight line between man and woman and I'm a dot on the outside but towards the woman side. I'm biologically female for all those who'd be like "but what are you REALLY?" ā˜ ļø Blue haired boy is actually a name of a song I like a lot. It's very cute and it's about a small crush the singer has on a blue haired boy. It's a very feel good song. And a book that really represents me; well there are three — If you could see the sun by Ann liang, the passion project by London sperry, and Welcome to the Hyunam dong bookshop. These books represent my past, present, and hopefully, future. I was an academic machine, I AM someone who's an emotional mess in therapy, and hopefully, one day I'll be content and satisfied with my life as it is! So what's the story behind YOUR username and what's a book that represents YOU?

The premise of the book was what got me interested. I really enjoyed first half of the story - the way Ainsleigh and Finch interacted with each other felt natural and interesting. A duo after my own heart. With Ainsleigh and Cass I could read glimpses through the lines early on that there was something going on between them but there could have been more towards the end. The latter half of the story felt a bit rushed and I am feeling a little conflicted about the ending. In a way it fits but also in a way I wanted more. Maybe if there had been little bit more world building between character interactions? This was my first read from the author and I'll definetly read more from them.

  • Are you all on your computer or phone/tablet?

I’m just curious! I have been mainly on my phone but I’m now wondering if I should start on my computer because I find myself scrolling here so much lately and my screen time is crazy haha

Is it just me, or is Eragon still pure magic? šŸ‰āœØ

I just listened to the audiobook again and I just love this story! The bond between Eragon and Saphira, the sense of adventure, the world-building… it all feels so alive and immersive. Also, I’d love to know: does anyone else feel like this series finally deserve a proper screen adaptation??
