  • Just jawing, don’t take this too seriously

Y’all ever finish a PERSONAL five-star months ago, and while you’re adding in stuff for the yearly recap, you see a good bit of 1-2 star reviews? I’m always standing there like so🧍‍♂️it feels a little awkward because it sort of makes me feel like I should’ve read it as deep as the reviewer, I guess? One thing this app has taught me, though, is that taste is very, very, very, very, very, very, VERYYYYYY subjective.

  • recommendations for a good series?

hi there!! i’m looking to get into a good book series in 2026. most of this past year i read standalones, which were nice, but i miss following characters through multiple installments. the last real series i read was heroes of olympus, which is my absolute favorite, and im hoping to reread soon (even though im in my twenties). i have the mistborn series, and it’s on my tbr for 2026 but im not sure i’ll love it. i tend to love fantasy/mythology as well as dystopian. should i start off with mistborn or do you have other suggestions? thank you in advance 🫶

EDIT: thank you all so much for these incredible suggestions!! my tbr has grown so much (in a good way). eternally grateful to the pagebound community for being so caring and sharing their expertise 🫶🫶🫶

  • Unique books

I recently read The Traveling Cat Chronicles, and I think the book is very cute and unique for it uses the perspective of the cat.

Since uniqueness is subjective, is there any fiction books that you consider as unique personally? Why?

  • how did you find out your fave genre?

When was it you realized, while reading/finishing a book "wow, this is what I really enjoy reading", and why? What characteristics hold your interest?

  • Project Hail Mary or The Martian?

It seems like a lot of people here seem to prefer one of the other and I’m curious what y’all’s thoughts are 👀

  • Wlw reccomendations?

Inspired by an earlier post or maybe encouraged is a better word, cause I've been meaning to ask this but, does anyone have any wlw book recs where the characters are actually compelling?

I read mostly fantasy and sci-fi, and I reeeaaaally enjoyed The Locked Tomb series, Harrow and Gideon have such an interesting dynamic and are good characters even when apart, the plot itself is engaging too and don't get me started on the side characters. I know the bar is high but does anyone have any books that are like this?

Not really looking for a wholesome Heartstopper vibe, plain romance is not really my thing.

Also, just letting you guys know I've already read Priory and am currently reading A Day of Fallen Night 🙂‍↕️

  • The Ministry of Time
    Thoughts from 12% (page 44)

The next evening I went to meet her at the pub she had suggested, an old-fashioned watering hole close to the Ministry, poky and bizarrely fuggy and upholstered in leather. It was like being inside the elbow of a patched jumper”

Kaliane’s writing is an absolute JOY and so evocative. I know exactly the kind of pub she’s talking about.
