Constantly being updated!
How do we bring Climate Change closer to those of us who can't see or don't understand the issues? Stories are one of the best ways to understand issues that we face as a people, and climate fiction can help us more easily imagine an uncertain future, but also help us respond to it too.
Please bear in mind that while cli-fi can be hopeful, it also touches on a lot of difficult themes, so make sure to protect your mental health too.

There's also The Ones We're Meant to Find by Joan He, which has always been specifically marketed as "YA dystopian cli fi"!
Oh brilliant, thank you!
May I suggest Arboreality by Rebecca Campbell? I think it would fit right into this list! It's a beautiful little book
Oh great suggestion, that sounds brilliant, thank you!
I’ve been thinking Is there a way to add the issues or stories of the online literary magazine tractor beam to Pagebound? The stories are soilpunk, most also qualify as climate fiction. Anyway to those looking for some short stories, you can read them on tractorbeam.earth and I recommend you check them out :)
If they show up on Goodreads then they can be added ☺️ Either way, thank you for the suggestion! I haven't heard of it before and I'll definitely check it out!
Ooooh you might like What If We Get it Right? Visions of Climate Futures by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson
Brilliant recommendation, thank you, it's gone onto my tbr! This is a fiction list (I should probably specify that shouldn't I!), shall I make up a non-fiction one too? I have so many non-fiction climate books!
I think Private Rites by Julia Armfield would fit this list!
Oh yeah sounds great, thank you!
Can I suggest Extremophile by Ian Green?
Absolutely! I thought it was already on here!
May I suggest The history of bees by Maja Lunde? It's part of a four book series called the "climate quartet".
Ooh how have I not heard of that, thank you!
Love this list 🤩❤️ so comprehensive!!
Thank you! It's my PB pride and joy haha, I've been working really hard on it for months. Cli-fi is my current reading project, though I fear it is a never ending tbr at this point!
yooo i love that though - thank you for being so diligent about updating and refreshing the list! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
May I suggest Tusks of Extinction and The Unworthy? Great list!! Saving this for later :)
Absolutely! I've had my eye on Tusks, I didn't realise it was cli-fi!
What a great list! Especially the mix of genres makes it so good! May I interest you in books published by stelliform press? They exclusively publish cli-fi. I’m currently reading What a Fish Looks Like by Syr Hayati Beker, which is a very special book with a very different story telling style than I have seen in any other book. Weird Fishes by Rae Mariz, Sordidez by E. G. Condé and Origins of Desire in Orchid Fens by Lynn Hutchinson Lee are also on my tbr, as I have heard a lot of positive thoughts on these.
Oh wonderful! I haven't heard of them before, which makes sense if they're a small press in Canada (I'm in the UK). I'll take a look and add a couple to the list, thank you!
It's very strange and definitely not particularly hopeful but Dengue Boy by Michel Nieva is a rather unique exploration of climate change and capitalism
Cli-fi doesn't always have to be hopeful! I personally think it is important to have all types of climate stories. Thank you!
I thought I'd just mention it since the description mentioned it an be hopeful! I've definitely read a fair amount of rather gloomy clifi
Have you read The Mires by Tina Makereti? You might like it and it might fit in this list :)
I haven't but it sounds brilliant, I'll add it, thank you!
