once in a while, i pop my headphones and click play on where is the justice? from the deah note musical. all the stars align and i feel like justice personified.

War and Peace has a musical adaptation?!?!?! Why have I overlooked the classics to musicals pipeline?? I thought that pipileome is reserved for mangas only!

I'm obsessed with this list and ily for including Death Note, the musical soundtrack lives rent free in my head!

- Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens has been adapted as Oliver! by Lionel Bart
- Matilda by Roald Dahl has been adapted into a musical by the same name by Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo has been adapted by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz (technically the musical is based on the animated film, but they made some changes to fit the tone of the book better)
- Spring Awakening by Franz Wedekind has been adapted by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater
- Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt has been adapted by Chris Miller, Nathan Tysen, Claudia Shear and Tim Federle
- The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan was adapted by Rob Rokicki and Joe Tracz
