I'm usually reading a book while listening to a different book for times when I'm doing mundane adult shit or hobbies where I can't have a book in my hand but want my mind engaged in a story. Anyone else think it would be cool to have a "listening" status or do you consider listening to audiobooks and reading physical books the same thing?

this novel is so much more enjoyable when you consider the protagonist as merely the very annoying narrator for sumire's lesbian coming of age story

It was ok. Authors first book after husband died so it was probably very therapeutic for her to write. But foreshadowing was clunky and I correctly predicted the "twists" that were going to happen by the early/middle of the book. It's kind of like a hallmark rom com movie, nothing really ground breaking or revelatory but entertaining

Really enjoyed the evolution of viva as she grew up and found her way in the world. Super interesting view into the psyche of people addicted to alcohol which I found eye opening.

Interesting and unpredictable twists and turns. Pacing of the story is a little odd at times but makes sense once its all done and you think about why the parts told in more detail were done that way!

Levin is going on about farming again haha I feel like I'm reading two books at the same time - one about a high society Russian lady having an affair and one about some bloke trying to run his farm. I don't mind it too much compared to some other people I've seen online who really hate Levin's story, but I would much rather be reading Anna's story instead

So I guess I always thought orientated and disorientated weren't real words and should just be oriented and disoriented. This is the first time I've encountered the extra -at- in a published book.... any thoughts to clear that up??

I really enjoyed the story and how its told, although there are some loose ends that don't get tied up and repetitive mentions of things that don't seem to have a purpose. I liked the juxtaposition of the sisters' accounts of their childhood and relationship, highlighting how unique everyone's experience is even if we are together. The science aspect was interesting and woven into the story well.
