I was originally just going to ask what everyone's one favourite book of the year was, but then I realised that I don't think I can actually answer that, so what are everyone's favourite books that they've read so far in 2025?
Bonus points and also cookies (with extra choc chips) if you can convince me to read them lol (I'm terrible at explaining why I love books, so I am forever in awe of the people who can)
Mine are ↷ all of my five star reads are rereads lol send help ↷ In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire Where The Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle
favourites in my heart ↷ The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune - this book feels like a warm hug, and i need to reread it at least once a year to retain my already crumbling sanity Eva Evergreen, Semi-Magical Witch by Julie Abe - this book was adorable and had all of the found family vibes I was hoping for. It's very reminiscent of Kiki's Delivery Service in the best way! The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World by Kyouka Izumi - this manga is a book lover's dream, and I cannot emphasise that enough. Even if you're not usually a manga/graphic reader, I urge you to at least flip through it because it will make your heart happy Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones - this book has somehow become the book that I read whenever I get sick/have a flare up and my brain can't handle anything else, so let's just say that I read it for the first time in 2024 and now read it 8 times... it's cozy and so so comforting Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan - I put off reading this last year because I got sick, but I somehow knew that whenever I got around to this, I would love it, and I was right!! I devoured it in two sittings and had to physically hold myself back from immediately rereading it. I don't think I've ever grinned so wide at an ending, and I genuinely think I'll rate this 5 stars when I reread it. 2026 cannot come fast enough. Demon World Boba Shop by R. C. Joshua - I think, of all the books I've read this year, this has been the biggest shock for me. I really thought I would read a few chapters and forget about it, but I have been devouring this series, and I think about it a lot even when I'm not reading it. I absolutely adore the world and how safe it feels. My boy just wants to make boba and help his friends!! 🥹 If you're a cozy fantasy fiend like me, you absolutely need to pick this one up!!

poonwithplot commented on poonwithplot's review of Under the Oak Tree: Volume 1 (The Novel)
So. It wasn't what I was expecting. Under the Oak Tree is a novel based off a Webcomic of the same name. I checked out the comic online via trial- thought it was cute as heck, picked up the special edition of the novel (it's absolutely stunning, btw) and dove right in.
GIRL. I got way more than bargained for??? I truely didn't think it was going to jump in the way it did. The comic was giving PG- this was smut. Dub/Non Con, Body Betrayal, All-They-Do-Is-Smash, Smut. Normally I'm like okay- I'm down with it, but YA'LL. I wanted a fantasy outta this so bad.
I really wish I could get into a more in depth review but it truely felt like nothing at all happened. I'm probably going to read volume 2 and hope there is a real plot here, but goodness. I enjoyed it enough to pass the time, and the special edition is beautiful enough for the 2☆s.
Anyone who knows what this is about will likely enjoy it wayyyy more than me. If I knew it was going to be ALL-SPICE-NO-SLICE I could have just liked it more for what it was.

This was the perfect cozy, ghosty OV read for a chilly weekend. It was pretty hallmark-ey and insta-love isn't typically my thing, but I really did enjoy!

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I haven’t seen any myself and I couldn’t find a search feature within the club posts specifically.
There are certain books that are in my library because I have read them in the past, but I am not really interested in seeing updates about them constantly for whatever reason (no longer supporting the author, not something I read anymore ect). Is there any way to prevent posts and updates about these books from showing up in my feed? Especially as recomended posts “from books in your library”?
I don’t really want to remove the books unless I have to. But I’m going to be so honest if I see another reccomended update about House in the Cerulean Sea I’m going to lose my mindddddd 😭💔

I was thinking about this earlier in terms of my own reading and realised my favourite fiction and non-fiction this year were both genres I don’t usually gravitate towards. My favourite fiction - Lonesome Dove - is the first western I’ve ever read, and I distinctly remember hating the westerns my dad would watch when I was a kid. My favourite fiction - Free by Lea Ypi - is a memoir and I almost never like memoirs!
So what’s your favourite read or reads of the year, and were they books you expected to love?

Another quality of life update! You can now select which edition of a book you are reading, which will update the book info in your library. This is most relevant for changing which book cover shows up in your library, or changing the language edition. We get asked all the time about changing book covers, so I'm happy to report this is finally an option! The edition page will also show you additional data like publisher and page count.
This does require an app update if you are on the iOS/Android app.
We've been working with a few volunteer librarians to combine language editions on Pagebound and are making steady progress "deduping" popular authors. This is a necessary process to make sure we have one forum per book, and also ensures if you read a book in say Spanish, the English version is also marked "finished" and you get credit towards any Quests, Readalongs etc. Deduping will also make Search and navigating the author pages easier.
To change the language/edition of a book, click "View All Languages & Editions" on the book page (next to publish year above the book description). You'll see a list of all available editions, and can swap from that page. Your chosen edition will reflect in your Library.
Combining language editions is a monumental task, so we appreciate your patience as me, Lucy, and our volunteers work through it all!
Another fun update: we brought the "Featured Emoji" to the Discover Lists page!
We're still working on home feed updates and will be back soon with more updates :)
Happy Reading, Jennifer & Lucy
PS: if you're curious how deduping works: When language editions are combined, it just means that there is one Book/forum per listing, but the "deduped" editions are still available on the editions page. All reviews and forum posts that were on the deduped book will now show up on the main Book page.

i was planning to buy myself the Kobo Clara BW (169.99$ CAD) for Christmas/birthday but i'm scared it's not gonna be worth it. i read a lot on my phone and not only is my screen's broken but i get really bad migraines that get worse because of blue light. basically i would love if anyone can give pros and cons for this kobo or any e-reader (i picked this specific one bc i'm very low maintenance and broke as fuck)

I genuinely thought I'd be feeling more by now. Does it pick up from here?

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.
