Audiobooks Narrated by the Great Tim Curry

2026 is merciless. We lost another one, people. Pour one out for a legend. I'm devastated. Clue is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show on the Queen Mary when I was in high school. They wrote slut on my chest and had me perform sapphic erotica for the audience. I had misread the vibe and was wearing a sailor suit my friend had cut the legs and crotch out of. It was an incredible (eye-opening) evening for me. We will miss you so much, Tim.

Precious person. Thank you for this list! I can't hear the books myself 🦻 but I'm happy to have something to recommend to other fans of his

2

that is so sweet, i love that! for you, i have heard great things about his memoir, Vagabond, which you could eye-read if you were so inclined!

2

Eyes I do indeed have! Thank youuu I will add it to my list for sure

2

You're absolutely killing it with these lists. Here. You dropped this. 👑

9

awww thank you friend!! 🩷

3

This is how I find out? 😭😭😭 what a week

9

what a week indeed, I'm so sad

4

Whenever a celebrity that I really liked passes I do one nice thing in their honor. Not in a creepy/parasocial way (though it probably is 😭) in a you brought me joy and I want to share that with my community way. So like, even leaving the quarter in the Aldi cart or paying attention when I enter a store to hold a door open or help with something heavy. Small things that I "throw out " to them. Your making this list is a kind thing. Sharing books. However the universe works, hope he sees this. 🩵

7

I don't think that's creepy, I really love that and think that goes beyond my little attempts to appreciate them! I don't make lists a ton, just once in a while, and with these, I usually just assume that the fans of theirs here on PB are sad about their passing, but I think many of us want to celebrate their lives and the work they have put out that is meaningful to us. I hope he knows how much joy he brought to the world. 🩵

4

oh i had no idea he did audiobooks, this is such a lovely list and so needed right now🥺💛

7

Yeah, he did a ton of them!! Thought some of us might want to hear his voice 🩷😭

4

Thank you for this, forever missed Diva down 💓

5

terrible week for divas tbh 😭

3

I didn't know he was a narrator tooooo 😭😭😭😭 also I love your Rocky Horror experience 😂😂 I used to "vet" potential boyfriends by making them go to our local indie theater to watch The Room or Rocky Horror if they couldn't at least let me have fun (like if they were embarrassed by me or upset) it was a deal breaker for me. Because there was no future if they can't support my inner campy theater kid!!!

One of my favorite photos of my now husband is him right after I threw him under the bus as a Rocky Horror virgin (I did not make him go up on stage though - pretty sure HE would have dumped me for that hahaha)

5

bahahahhahaaaaa that is so good, what a great vetting process! maybe i need to adopt something like that

1

With Spooky Season right around the corner, Curry’s Dracula is S-tier! Highly recommend for both new and returning readers. I’ll have to check out some of the other books on the list. 🫀

2

yessss i am planning to check it out!

2

Now I need to pester my library to acquire all of these (they only have Vagabond, the Series of Unfortunate Events books he did, and the Sabriel series, which I haven't read yet so that is a good start).

4

I think I may have read Sabriel in middle school, but I don't remember it at all anymore. I definitely eyed that cover a lot! I have been considering revisting it tbh and this might be my push!

I think some of them (the classics I think - Dracula, A Christmas Carol, and Journey to the Center of the Earth) are Audible exclusives 🫠

2

Yeah, won't be listening to those AE books, but that's okay, there are others to request (when I get around to it).

3

Thank you for these lists! Omg now I want to finally read Dracula but I can’t find the version he narrated, where did you find it?

3

I got the list from Tim Curry's website tbh, and I am pretty sure that one, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and A Christmas Carol are audible exclusives 🫠

3

Thank you for creating this list 🌟

3

of course, I'm glad you like it!

3

Love this so much 😭🫶he’s one of my favorites too

3

Thank you for this list! First time I ever heard Tim Curry's voice was him reading The Happy Prince (Oscar Wilde) and Stolen Thunder (the story of when the ice giants steal Thor's hammer) on a Storyteller tape when I was maybe 5 years old and I have adored him since then. Today is a sad day, and seeing this list brings some sunshine.

3

It really is a sad day. I added The Happy Prince but wasn't able to find Stolen Thunder, so maybe other folks will want to hear him read that one! Thank you for sharing!!

1

Aw thank you. The stories can be found here - the storyteller collection came out on cassette when I was a tiny human and definitely inspired my love of books (and my total inability to fall asleep without being read to lol) - and some kind soul uploaded the whole collection to youtube!

i will never forget finding out ugh. gasped out loud in the craft restore when i got the notification 😔 rocky horror soundtrack was playing, turned to the owner and said “did you hear??” she said “about dolly?” and i proceeded to break the hearts of everyone in the craft restore all over again 😔 you are killing the lists and my libby hold shelf is currently reserved for dolly & tim :(

2

omgggg that's wild that it was playing when you found out!!! i have some new dolly and tim on hold now too 😭

1

I've been listening to the Dracula audiobook for DraculaDaily, but I haven't reached his part of the narration yet. It's gonna be so sad when I finally do 😭

2

ahhhh i am going to have to listen to it, i bet it's so great!

1

Didn’t realize he narrated audiobooks! Awesome list. Sabriel was one of my childhood favorites, so maybe I should revisit it via audiobook!

2

Yeah, I'm definitely considering revisiting it, too!!
