The book really wants me to believe that Zeluās book is just so damn good and life-changing, but every time I read an excerpt, itās just not good. And thatās wild because I like the writing style of the non-excerpt chapters (it definitely feels like the writing of a debut novelistā a bit green, but definitely promising, and still way better than the excerpts). But there is a HUGE disconnect for me between everyone raving about Zeluās book and my experience with Zeluās book.
Iām going to keep reading because I like majority of it so far and the premise is very interesting, but I do not look forward to the excerpt chapters lol

Iām just curiousā¦.
Do you annotate or mark-up your books? Why or why not? How do you annotate them?
Personally, I mostly annotate books for school or non-fiction books. I donāt typically write in the margins, rather I highlight sentences that I like and are meaningful. For school, I look at tone, syntax, juxtaposition, metaphors, and character portrayals.

Hi everybody,
I need some other perspectives on my ''issue''! Quotation marks cus it's not an actual issue..
I love reading but also gaming, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles, coloring books, diamond painting, you name it. How do you divide the time between these? Okay knitting etc. is easy with audio books but audio books are not my fave, so I rarely listen to them.
I just got a new game that I love and want to play allll the time but then obvi I can't read and there's so many books that I have to read. Also I've been knitting a beanie for myself for like two years that I would very much like to finish but alas, something else always comes up :D It is a never ending cycle and I always end up feeling like I'm neglecting a hobby.
Edit:// Thank you everybody for the great advice and kind words! š«¶ I do realize (now especially..) that I have way too high standards for myself and am impatient as hell, not everything needs to be done immediately. š

this is my first twisted tale, so iām very excited to see how this will go !
i did not expect this to be set in present day, and i usually donāt enjoy that in fantasies, but i can see how that can possibly work very well for this one.

This book is low-key giving me my 287th existential crisis of the year š but Iām quite entertained.

This was utterly āfine.ā I didnāt like the epistolary style in this one. Iām not sure why, since I really enjoyed Ella Minnow Pea and Frankenstein. Itās just didnāt work for me here.

Hi all! My boyfriend isnāt really a reader, but Iād love for him to read a bit more, mostly so I donāt feel quite so guilty disappearing into a book while he scrolls on his phone š But of course, I donāt want to force it if heās not into it. So far heās only read self-development books (finances, mindset, that kind of thing), but after a long day heās usually too tired to focus on those and ends up on social media instead. That got me thinking about gifting him one or two lighter books for Christmas, something more relaxing and fun. Iām leaning toward fiction, but I mostly read romance and romantasy, which Iām pretty sure wonāt be his thing š Do you have any recommendations for books that are easy to read, engaging, and not too long (ideally under ~400 pages) that might work for a non-reader? I know this is kind of a broad question, but Iām open to anything. And if anyone has successfully gotten their boyfriend into reading, what books did it for you?
ETA: Some movies and shows he enjoyed recently are The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, House of Cards, Queen of the South, Knives Out, Lupin, Money Heist, and Avatar. Thanks The_BookishBug for pointing out that this could help give better suggestions š
