I was an AVID reader as a kid with undiagnosed ADHD... With the invention of the smartphone, my fixation turned elsewhere. Now I'm looking to get off the phone and back into books, instead!

  • the tv show and movie quests

this is for everyone that is in these two quests, do you watch more tv or movies ? i think its interesting that i prefer movies and i have read way more movie books than tv show books ( i very rarely watch tv shows). of course those two quests are no where near every book adapted into movies or a tv shows but i wanted to see if anyone else has this gap or do you have similar amounts in both quests.

  • Page Numbers

If you’re an e-reader, do you report the page numbers as they are? My Kobo will list a book as 400 pages but the last 30 will be acknowledgements/previews for other books/etc. and I worry that is skewing the percentage I’ve read and that I might accidentally spoil something for others… idk if I’m overthinking it or if this is something others factor in when they’re recording the total number of pages of the book in PB... thanks in advance :)

    😳

Genuinely, the only reason I gave this 4.5/5 for quality/overall was because there was one brief point in the first part where I got a little bored of it… however, the other 95% of the time, this book had me in. a. chokehold!! I didn’t know I could hate two people so much - but then find myself feeling sorry for them? - but then HATE THEM SO MUCH - all while not wanting to put the book down… until now. I swear my fiancé must’ve thought I was crazy because I’d randomly gasp or mutter to myself when I would reach the end of each chapter and uncover a new plot twist. Gillian Flynn really knows how to keep her audience captivated every step of the way!! I’m not all that skillful when it comes to writing reviews, but I sincerely recommend this book - especially to those who also have not seen the movie. If you’ve managed to avoid spoilers like I had - keep it that way!

  • Sophiacapo01 eats her last meal

If you don’t get the reference, there’s a series on YT by Mythical Kitchen where various celebrities are interviewed while eating what they would most desire if they knew they were dying tomorrow. This series has had me in a chokehold for a hot minute because the interviewer, Josh, inspires such thought-provoking conversations about lessons learned in life, various ideologies/beliefs, and thoughts about the afterlife that are all so personalized for each guest. It’s so fascinating to listen to and has made me gain an appreciation for a whole bunch of people I’ve either never heard of or never given much thought to. It’s also wonderful to see the variety of people’s favorite foods and hear why they hold such value to them!

I guess all of this is to say I need more content like this (and hopefully someone understands what I mean when I say that haha). Whether it’s a book, podcast, show, or movie, if you have any recommendations, please let me know!!

  • What's on your nightstand?

I'm cleaning off my nightstand because I need to use it as a photo backdrop for something and so it's requiring me to touch alllll the books I've piled on there, which have been so patiently waiting their turn. I thought it would be interesting to see what other people have on their nightstands — do you treat it as a "next up" or a collection of your favorites or something else? Do you keep a lot of books there, or just a few? Or one?! (Or none?!) I'll post mine in the comments!
