if graphic novels are allowed, Rent Girl by Michelle Tea is one i really enjoyed!
This looks interesting! I’ll be checking it out!
Oh it made me remember about “Safe Sex” that I read only 2 parts from, I couldn’t find the rest. It is fiction and had a beginning of an interesting plot
Not sure if you take suggestions, but I’d recommend Slut Shaming, Whorephobia, and the Unfinished Sexual Revolution by Meredith Ralston.
Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll add it. Definitely interested in suggestions
Neon Girls was also a really fun memoir about girls working at a nude club and eventually unionizing
Ooh thank you so much I’ll add it
might i recommend Andrea Wehrun’s memoir Modern Whore?
Thank you so much! Added
it’s the only book i’ve read about sex work but it was incredibly honest and i personally really enjoyed it.
Do you accept recommendations in other languages too or do you want to keep all books in English? Either way, great list!
Definitely open to other languages!
Then I will recommend Oma valinta (My Own Choice). It's a Finnish nonfiction book where five female sex workers talk about their job and why they chose to do it. I found it quite interesting and very approachable! Here's the link to it
Amazing list! I know you already have a book by Jacqueline Frances but can I also recommend The Beaver Show? It’s her memoir it’s incredibly funny and raw
Added! Thank you so much for the recommendation :)
Awesome list! I don’t know if it’s still in print, but I think Whores and Other Feminists by Jill Nagle could be a good addition. It’s a collection of essays by sex workers, and while it has more of an academic bent, I remember enjoying it when it came out.
Added, thank you so much for the recommendation! I have a Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies degree—so academic books are my jam 🩷🙂↕️
Great idea for a list! Looking forward to diving into some of these since I've only read one so far
Thank you so much—so glad!!
