When I say mid-00's I cannot stress enough that I am going on vibe alone. The actual publication date (or status as a YA book) matters way less than the fact that I, a teen in the mid-00s, consumed many of these titles.
Recommendations welcome! They don't have to have aged poorly for me to add them in, but boy it sure happens to have shaken out that way!

Oh damn this is 100% me 🤓 not sure if you were into Scott Westerfeld but I read allll his stuff from 00's. Like Uglies trilogy, Midnighters, Peeps etc. I've not gone back to reread any of these books (except for Uglies coz they made that terrible Netflix movie haha) so I will take your word that they don't hold up 😂
Ooh, I missed Westerfeld but I definitely had friends who caught that wave!! I'll add him to the list!
Maybe some of them do hold up to be fair 😭 it definitely doesn't help that revisiting as an adult, I am not the most compelled by Yearning Teens
