hi heather, are you intentionally including non-Black authors on this list? Because there are a fewâjust wondering if theyâre mistakes or not. /neutral If theyâre being included intentionally, maybe people would appreciate a heads up about them, since they may be using this list to seek out Black authors specifically.
Huh thatâs odd to me, thanks for pointing it out. If you have time/it in you to list the non-Black authors on this list that would be super helpful but understand if not!!
Oh wait I thought this was the quest of a similar name- to me itâs maybe less important here but thanks all the same for the heads up!
ooh thanks for the heads-up about that, i had assumed these were all black authors based on the quest but i realize now i might have interpreted things wrong !!
As a mixed race person, I'm not interested in defining and policing what qualifies as a Black author.
Everything Tamara Jerée writes is fantastic!!!! (The Fall That Saved Us, A Wolf Steps in Blood, A Vision of Moonlight, The Flowers I Deserve)
Which one is your favorite?
My Library Holds and For Later lists have just grown substantially! You have so many great books on here đ
This would be an awesome quest!
I agree! I nominated it to be a quest đââïž
I love A Song of Wraiths and Ruin and Legendborn!
They're both on there. They're just buried. I'm starting Legendborn now. Just came in!đ
Love this!!
I love the list â„ïž and thank you for making it I have read some of these. While I like Rivers Solomon, their book is heavy read and ending made me asking for a sequel and more. Love Moniques work and it is thought provoking. Also, N.E Davenports work is just brilliant. Also, can I suggest Masquerade by O.O. Sangoyomi (fantasy and historical fiction) and Sunspot Jungle by N.K. Jemisin for the list? There is a book called "The Teller of Secrets" by Bisi Adjapon but it falls under historical fiction.
Added. I think the last one would be a good match for a different list I have. Will add it there.
Oh cool! Yeah! I started following you after I saw you have clubbed and sorted work of Black authors. Thank you for doing it. Appreciate you for making the list.
I love this liiiist. â„ïž I don't know how I never glt to it until now. Bookmarking it! đ
For someone more familiar with high and epic fantasy, and less sci-fi, where do you recommend to start?
Have you heard about Transparent City by Ondjaki Ondjaki? It might fit your list, đ€
Added!
Thank you for making this list. Bookmarking it â„ïž
This is exactly what I needed! Last year, I diversified my tbr even more and it was the best decision of the year. Now, I want to read even more books by authors of color. Thank you!
This would be a great quest. I keep coming back to see what else I want to add to my tbr đ
Thank you for making this list!!!
This list is going to be my happy place. Thank you!!
Glad to hear it! Please keep me updated on any of the ones you read because I want to make more headway in this list too đđœ
I don't know how I missed this list! I'm so glad it was on the featured emoji list!
It's middle grade, but B.B. Alston's Supernatural Investigations series, starting with Amari and the Night Brothers is really good. Dread Nation is a very interesting and entertaining, as well as contains social commentary, and takes place during the Civil War era and has zombies.
Oops, sorry, didn't scroll all the way down to see Dread Nation! Such a good list thought. So many books I've loved and so many on my TBR.
Love this list! Definitely bookmarking for later. Have you considered adding Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor or Their Vicious Games and The Blonde Dies First by Joelle Wellington?
it made my heart ache so happily seeing there so many hearts for this list. this is an incredible collection and deserves all the love. we need a quest like this!!!! thank you.
