Where are the Manga About Employed Adults?

They're here. This is a list of manga about adults in contemporary, non-fantasy settings. BL and GL are included here. SPOILERS: Actually some of them are unemployed as a plot point.

Very happy to take suggestions here! The criteria is:

  • The main characters must be adults
  • One of them must have a job at some point
  • The setting is not fantasy (or sci-fi)

My first thought was if you were going to add that corporate mind game toxic yuri on here LMAO

they're the most employed. except maybe the yaoi that's about a photojournalist and a mob boss. they're also very employed.

it’s like you knew i started getting into manga and light novels this week

Oh hey! I actually highly recommend my list Manga for Adults for that, then, which contains a lot of sincere recommendations for more mature manga! This list is more of a little joke, because I keep saying in manga reviews "this one is for people who want to read manga about employed adults."

thank you for your service 🫡 i do find this list concept funny so i’ll keep it in my back pocket for later 🤭

This is a Manhwa but Job Switch Log is so peak. My only gripe is that [SPOILERS] (A) there is a love triangle, (B) we never see the main character's friends outside of work, :( and (C) one of my goats had a character assassination. >:( But I liked this manhwa for the most part.

May I suggest The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife, and also The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store?

Going to shout out Tokyo Tarareba Girls by Akiko Higashimura (Princess Jellyfish). All women are working adults in their 30s and the manga is about their struggles with their careers and love lives. Themes include societal pressure on women to marry, self-reflection, and the experience of aging as a woman.

Not me being jumpscared by Finder in this list

Gangster and Photojournalist are both jobs 🙂‍↕️

3

Arguable on one but definitely true for the other. Akihito was just doing his job and then Asami just fucked that right up for him🙂‍↕️

2

I married my female friend by shio usui would fit this list!
