Hi! This is going to be a bit long post sorry about that, if you don't want to read it all just drop a recommendation of a book taking about the importance of aquariums and/or zoos in conservation. Recently in my feed of social media, there have been many post talking about releasing dolphins, other animals (in zoos or aquariums) into the wild because they don't belong in cages, without even knowing most of those were hurt rescues or were born there. As someone aspiring to be a marine biologist this is making me sad. People don't make any more separation of good zoos and aquariums to bad ones. I (and my mom) have connections to people working at an aquarium park (parks that have animals "perfom" in healthy ways and have animal spaces to visit). I know that these animals are being well cared for because of my and my mother's connections. But somehow uneducated people are falling for some lies that they are being mistreated. This is why I wanted to ask about non fiction books and articles that talk about the importance of those places, in conservation and care of hurt animals. If you have any that also talk about cetaceans I would love to check them!

I'm currently on vacation and only brought 2 books the problem is however I didn't bring my e-reader. So my questions are: For those who don't have an e-reader, how many books do you pack to bring with you on vacation? And those who do have one, how many do you bring with you? 👀

Hi everyone! Hope your are having a good day. I just want to say, that recently after a bit of an intervention i have stopped buying books, unless it was from a few select authors. Instead i have been focusing on my TBR from books i already own. I had a bit of a shopping problem since i love a bookstore and a shopping trip. I just want to say that reading books you already own, especially in this world of over consumption actually feels amazing, instead of constantly being side tracked with new books i have read books that i bought 4 years ago and never properly picked up! I have read new favourites and i have also found books to either give away to friends or donate. I still own a lot of books and i will still buy books from time to time, but this is for those who get a little bit of a high from buying books (i certinely did) the high from the accomplishement of having a fully read bookshelf is equal to it. Please don't read this as an attack on those who love buying books because its not, this is for those who might want a bit of a change of pace and a push to stop expanding the TBR and get it down a few books.

my best friend and I have convos daily about a specific feeling we’re searching for in books. what we’re looking for in a book:
So, pagebound, tell me what you’ve got! The only book that has really felt this way, at least for my bestie (I’m still waiting on my hold to be ready), is Don’t Let The Forest In.

My work is putting on a Romantasy event night and I'm trying to come up with a good playlist to play for a couple hours during the event. Does anyone have any good recommendations for songs? It can be anything from what you like to listen to while reading a Romantasy book, or a song that you feel belongs in a Romantasy setting, or maybe just a song that reminds you of a specific character! Thanks for the input!

I am torn, because I see all these posts about the books and they seem intriguing but at the same time I've heard from a few people they didn't vibe with them at all? So give me reasons to read them (or not to read them) so I can make an informed decision for the sake of my wallet.

I absolutely loathe books which are more than 700 pages and are interconnected The only exception to this is Chloe walsh books I couldn't finish the zodiac academy and stopped on book 4 or 5 cause the twins were going through it
Do we really need long books?

I want to ask this specifically of the older users on PB!
I am an elder gen-z, so I grew up not using the internet much, but it really started to take hold during my childhood and social media began to take off before I became a teenager. I was a tumblr teen™️ and then later fell victim to addictive algorithms in my early twenties.
As a consequence (potentially?) I associated an immersive, carefree reading experience with childhood. Recently though, I’ve been cold turkey from algorithmic-driven social media for several months. I’m currently reading I Capture the Castle and I feel like a child. It feels like I’m truly there and the world around me melts away. I’m enamoured with the story and the setting and the characters.
This has me wondering. How much of my inability to feel this way in my adulthood is because of growing up, and how much is because of the digital age?
For those who grew up before the internet: how did your reading life shift between childhood and adulthood?
ETA: I never stopped reading! The experience just didn’t feel as magical as it previously did. But I’m hoping I can get some of that back the longer I’m off social media
