Mischievous Creatures is a non-fiction book about sisters who were a botanist and entomologist respectively. Neither married and both made important contributions to their scientific fields. It's a really interesting book!

Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow could be a good fit. I'm only 10% into it, but it's very much about the sisters and I'm sure it's going to make me cry.

2

I adore a good sisterly tear-jerker - adding!

We Hunt the Flame!! Though I would say the sisterly-ness is seen more in the second book of the duology, We Free the Stars. ✨

Omg I love this list so far!!

One of my favorite series as a young teen was Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. Twin sisters who grew up close but become rivals after being divided by an ancient prophecy. Since I haven't read it since I was like 12, I can't fully attest to the quality but I remember LOVING it. Going to add it to my shelf of books to reread now that this list reminded me of it!
