books where sisters’ love, hatred, or general angst towards each other is a main factor in [making you cry]/furthering the plot. Including classics/popular fiction, but particularly taking recc’s for standalone/underrepresented genres/nonfiction!!

Mischievous Creatures is a non-fiction book about sisters who were a botanist and entomologist respectively. Neither married and both made important contributions to their scientific fields. It's a really interesting book!

We Have Always Lived in the Castle! It's wonderful stuff
Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow could be a good fit. I'm only 10% into it, but it's very much about the sisters and I'm sure it's going to make me cry.
I adore a good sisterly tear-jerker - adding!
saltcrop by yume kitasei, about three sisters in the near future!
Yay for some scifi for the list!
We Hunt the Flame!! Though I would say the sisterly-ness is seen more in the second book of the duology, We Free the Stars. ✨
Ok! I can maybe add the second then for now if that’s the main sisterly one!

One of my favorite series as a young teen was Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. Twin sisters who grew up close but become rivals after being divided by an ancient prophecy. Since I haven't read it since I was like 12, I can't fully attest to the quality but I remember LOVING it. Going to add it to my shelf of books to reread now that this list reminded me of it!
Ooof so much angst I can imagine
Adding!!
This list is sick!! If you'd like some thrillers I recommend "behind closed doors" and "darling girls"!
Yesss more genres! Adding!
Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire (Wayward Children #2) is a YA dark fairy-tale esqe book centered on twins Jack (Jacqueline) and Jill.
