books where sisters’ love, hatred, or general angst for each other is a main factor in [making you cry]/furthering the plot. Including classics/popular fiction, but particularly taking recc’s for standalone/less common/nonfiction!!

Mischievous Creatures is a non-fiction book about sisters who were a botanist and entomologist respectively. Neither married and both made important contributions to their scientific fields. It's a really interesting book!
Adding! YAY for more nonfic
Oh I know this list will make me tear up!!
The River has Roots and Mad Sisters of Esi would both be great additions
Adding! Huzzah for all these recc’s I haven’t read yet
Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow could be a good fit. I'm only 10% into it, but it's very much about the sisters and I'm sure it's going to make me cry.
I adore a good sisterly tear-jerker - adding!
saltcrop by yume kitasei, about three sisters in the near future!
Yay for some scifi for the list!
muse of nightmares being on here brings me so much joy YES
another sister book i loved as a gal with a sister was worry by alexandra tanner!
I straight up sobbed from Muse.
Adding!!
i need to reread the duology, i miss laini taylor’s writing!!
We Hunt the Flame!! Though I would say the sisterly-ness is seen more in the second book of the duology, We Free the Stars. ✨
Ok! I can maybe add the second then for now if that’s the main sisterly one!
Omg I love this list so far!!
One of my favorite series as a young teen was Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. Twin sisters who grew up close but become rivals after being divided by an ancient prophecy. Since I haven't read it since I was like 12, I can't fully attest to the quality but I remember LOVING it. Going to add it to my shelf of books to reread now that this list reminded me of it!
