...they were videogames! only the first book of the series (when a game has been serialized) are included to avoid cluttering. any recs are welcome :)

When I saw your list title, I immediately thought "ooh I could suggest Ruination for this" but I see you've already got it! Really fun list, thank you :)

thank you!!! while i'm not a league player myself, i do have a lot of love for league lore :) there was no way i wouldn't include it 🙂↕️🙂↕️
I'm not a player either I got into the universe because of arcane tbh!

arcane supremacy 🤩🤩 i did attempt to learn and play league back in 2020, but had a reaaaally hard time getting a hang of it, lol so i gave up. like you, most of my interest started with arcane!
It's a masterpiece! 🥹 I actually never even tried the game, I have so many others I want to play there is simply no time
that's fair! having played other riot games and knowing the culture of the riot playerbase... you're saving yourself a lot of emotional pain LOL. i've heard the lol playerbase is particularly toxic and full of incels 😭 no need to get into that when other, better, and more comforting games exist!
Right!! That's also what I've heard
The Dragon Age books would be great for this!

added, thanks!
of course! i also forgot to mention the doom novels. the first one is called knee-deep in the dead
heard, thank youuu edit: added!
Ooh. This is so interesting. I’m not much into video games (not by choice, I’m just so shit at them), but I know a lot of them come with amazing backstories. Great list!!!

ahh thank you! i also (kinda) suck at videogames, you’re not alone 🙂↕️
I had no clue Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy became books!!! This is an epic list! Thanks nezuu 🫶🏽

of course! i haven't read either of them, but they have a LOT of books for both, and to my understanding, some books are about the existing videogame plot, and some are supplementary stories that aren't in the games :)
omg what a cool list, I didn’t even realize this was something that existed!!

i only heard of a few of these being novelized at first, but then decided to do some digging and found SO many
Not quite a book, but there is a Splatoon manga if you’re counting manga! My little brother has read every volume 😂 (I have too bc I was looking for pearlxmarina :)

oooh yes, manga is always welcome!
There’s a Baldur’s Gate book?! I’ve been playing the original game but it’s kind of dragging tbh and I don’t understand D&D 2E 😭😭😭

yes! i haven’t played the game but i LOVE D&D and i have to get to it 😭 unfortunately i’m playing games on a total potato so i can’t run baldur’s gate 😔
Tbh you could probably run the original Baldur’s gate considering it released over 25 years ago but the real question is do you really want to learn second edition D&D?
But yeah you do need a PC with good specs and lots of storage for BG3 (so worth it tho, definitely my all-time favorite game)

oooh yeah that’s true 🙂↕️ also, is second edition really that bad 👀
I guess not since the computer does the math for you but AC is in reverse basically so you want a lower number for it and calculating to hit is confusing as hell. spells work pretty differently too- you have to prepare for every instance you’re going to use the spell instead of just preparing the spell once and using it whenever. If that makes sense. It’s confusing to me, a seasoned fifth edition player lol

ohhhh that's interesting. definitely sounds like a bit of a learning curve!
This is such a fun list!!
I’m debating whether or not I want to read the Ambessa book, I didn’t find her to be the most compelling Arcane character.

i’ve heard clark’s writing is beautiful, so i do want to check it out! i also wasn’t super attached or invested in ambessa while watching arcane
I had NO CLUE! (And I am an avid video gamer, though obviously, uneducated one)

HAHA don’t feel bad! i had to look up a lot of these titles 🙂↕️
What a fun list! Might I recommend the Death Stranding novelization 👀
Great list! I recommend adding the Worlds of Power series, an older set of videogame novelisations from the NES era back in the 90s!

thanks for the rec :) is blaster paster the first book in the series? (i just looked it up very briefly, but wanted to confirm!)
Yes Blaster Master is the first book in the series :)

thank you! it’s been added :)
There is a trilogy of Guild Wars novels that bridges the gap between the Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 games. The first is Ghosts of Ascalon.

awesome, thanks for the rec! i’ll add shortly :)
Fwiw there are so many Minecraft tie-in books. So many.

i'd love to add one if you have a specific title in mind :)
For the quest do they need to be authorized tie ins or no? (MC has both so I'm just trying to get a sense).

i’m honestly really not picky hehe whether authorized or not, i’m happy to add one in :)
also just to clarify, this is a list, not a quest! reading these books won’t give anyone a badge /nm
Ack sorry I misspoke, I meant list 😅. I'll look up some stuff in a bit and drop you titles!

awesome thanks so much 🥹 and omg no worries at all, i just wanted to make sure that you were aware and not wanting to get a badge from these, since that wouldn’t be possible /neu
💛💛💛 I appreciate the making the sure! I'll be at desktop soon and can grab stuff, it's too whatever to try to do from my phone. 🤣
I checked with my wife, who is a huge Mass Effect fan, and she said there are tie-ins for that too so I'll try to find those, or get her to do it.

oh i totally get not wanting to do it off your phone haha take your time! and that’s so cool, would love to hear any you or your wife could dig up 🌚🌚
On a different topic there are also manga for a lot of games (MC included, but also Super Mario Bros, Kirby, etc, and there's a huge amount of Pokémon manga.) I could grab titles if you want to add that kind of thing?
(...I have kids. Tie-ins are one way I can get them to read. 😅 )

i would love to add some manga in as well! any titles you can dig up would be awesome 🤩
oh, there's also a couple Kingdom Hearts manga.
Kingdom Hearts, vol. 1 by Shiro Amano Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories vol. 1 by Shiro Amano Kingdom Hearts II vol. 1 by Shiro Amano
there's probably more but.

thank you for all these! i'll be adding them to the list in the upcoming days, once i'm (also) able to get on desktop :D thanks again for all your patience compiling these for me!
anytime! this is a fun list, and I like video game tie-ins, so I'm happy to get to contribute.
and no worries, they're added when they're added.
hokay, here I am.
I'm looking through franchise... there are an absolutely spectacular number of Fire Emblem books, at least in Japanese, but I'm not in the fandom and I'm not sure what's even available in the US, much less how to begin to sort through any titles that do exist, so I'm not touching that one with a ten-foot pole.
Mass Effect: Revelation by Drew Karpyshyn
Some of the bajllion Minecraft series out there:
Roblox:
Pokemon (there are so so so many Pokemon manga, I could easily list three times this many, but...):
Super Mario Manga Mania by Yukio Sawada
Kirby Manga Mania vol. 1 by Hirokazu Hikawa
Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Deserted Island Diary by Kokonasu Rumba
Metroid, vol. 1 by Kouji Tazawa
...alright, I could track down more but that's plenty lmao.
