For the terrible women in science fiction and fantasy who are gaslighting, gatekeeping, and girlbossing their way to the top, using any and all tools at their disposal—the more war crimes, the better. Yes!! I would say so. It’s not like, elected officials politics, but there is an Empire and obviously an emperor, but without spoiling, the set-up is that one of the protagonists is competing to become the next emperor and the other is one of the conquered peoples who is spying for the rebellion. Buttttt there are a lot of behind-the-scenes things at play that we only get hints at with the commandant, the leader of the rebellion, this group of like, exalted magical people called the augurs, and a djinn. A lottttt of scheming and strings being pulled.
